Methodist Chapel

Early meetings were held in an old barn at the top of Fildyke Road and then transferred to a cottage owned by a Mrs. Millard in Rectory Road. Originally called the Primitive Methodist Chapel, then the Methodist Chapel when a chapel in the High street was built 1915.

The church and the Chapel have a good relationship and the united Sunday School meetings used this building. when in 1982 the church boiler broke down, the chapel was loaned for church services.

In 1965 to celebrate it’s Jubilee, Dr. Donald Soper preached at the service. So many people wanted to attend that the village hall was used and the service relayed there by loudspeaker.
