Report from the Trustees of Meppershall Village Hall April 2018
A visit to the site on 10th April showed how much work has been done in the last month despite the poor weather holding up the completion of the tiling above the main hall.
All the windows have now been installed and the building is watertight. It is now easy to walk around inside the building and now that the internal scaffolding has been removed and you can see how the building flows from area to area. In the Pre-school area, the toilets, kitchen and office/store have had plaster board applied ready for the plaster skim and final fittings.
The plaster boarding of the social club store is complete and other areas in the building are now underway. As you walk around you can see that electrical wiring and socket boxes are installed throughout the building. At the same time the installation team are wiring a data network and points for TV and Audio-Visual presentation equipment. The next phase for this team will be the wiring in the main hall for the theatre lighting and its control equipment.
In the main hall the walls forming the wings of the stage have been erected and scaffolding is in place for the installation of a steel beam across the top to complete the proscenium arch which forms the front of the stage area.
Representatives of most of the user groups have had access to the internal area now that it safe to do so, wearing the right protective equipment supplied by the site manager. The groups and potential new users continue to be in discussion with the Trustees about their future use of the building and give input on design, colour and furniture.
The Trustees are pleased to announce that plans for a coffee, tea and snacks service to operate from Monday to Friday mornings are nearing completion and the design of the serving area has been drawn up for discussion.
