CBC equips each Meppershall household with 3 refuse bins: one with a green top for refuse that can be recycled, one with a black top for refuse that has to go into landfill, and a brown bin for food waste. Central Bedfordshire website:
Central Bedfordshire Council has more details of what can go into which bin. In addition, they provide two green bags for garden refuse that can be composted. Black bins are emptied on alternate Wednesdays from the green bin and garden sacks. Food waste is collected separately: each household has a small brown "caddy" for the kitchen, for which CBC provides biodegradable liners. Full liners can be decanted into the larger brown bin, which is emptied every week. All bins due for collection have to be put out before 7 am on Wednesday mornings.
